Proverbs 23:7 says, “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he”.

As an example: When we eat food, if we eat so fast that we are not chewing and liquefying it, we’re really not absorbing the nutrients from that food. Absorption involves chewing to a point of liquid. Increased Absorption allows us to receive all the nutrients of that food. That‘s what mediation is, its absorbing the benefits of that Word. Meditation gets words grounded and rooted inside of us. We receive Revelation by meditating. We become established through words. Being absorbed in thought is figuratively chewing the cud. This is the natural process whereby some animals chew and chew and chew their food, then swallow, regurgitate, and chew some more. By these means, they obtain the maximum nourishment from what they eat, digesting it thoroughly.

Animals in the Old Testament were considered clean and suitable for food if they split the hoof and chewed the cud (Lev.11:3). We could say that a person who “chews the cud” (chewing on the Word) will be made clean and fruitful by the Word of God (John 15:3,7); just as Christ’s glorious church is cleansed by the washing of the water of the Word (Eph 5:26).

“I am the bread of life.” (John 6:48)

Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. Meditating day and night on every Word that comes from God’s mouth I receive perfect counsel from the Wonderful Counselor, the perfect peace from the Prince of Peace, perfect wisdom, and the perfect love that casts away all fear to handle every situation that comes my way. I am able to see beyond the natural circumstances into the supernatural. This keeps me secure and safe from the enemy of my soul, allowing me to prosper in everything I do because I’m delighting myself in Jesus the Word. Because I think and dwell on God’s thoughts I am going God’s way. Delighting in the Word of God is delighting ourselves in Jesus (He is the Word. John 1:1,14; John 14:6). The Word delight means to take pleasure, find satisfaction, experience thrill and enjoyment; to be excited.

MEDITATING ON GOD’S WORD BRINGS THE GREATEST OF ALL REWARDS: CHRIST HIMSELF INDWELLING US RICHLY. (Rom.12:1-2)

When we begin meditating on the Word we’re going to receive our transformed life and renewed mind. We’re going to live out our purpose and be who we really are supposed to be. We’re going to see ourselves become new! Meditating on the Word exchanges words of death for those of life!

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (Josh 1:8)

By meditating on the Word we will receive blessings (Deut. 28:1-14), a fruitful life, (Ps. 1), God’s good, pleasing and perfect plan for our life (Rom. 12:1-2), success, prosperity, strength, courage (Josh. 1:8-9), and freedom (John 8:31-32). Also, we’ll be healed and delivered from all destruction (Ps 107:20). Psalm 91 assures protection in the very first line, to the one who dwells (meditates, dwelling and saying) in the secret place of the Most High. That’s the secret. If we’re not dwelling/meditating and saying/confessing what God says then we’re opening ourselves up to words of fear, doubt, offense, anger, condemnation, and much more! Those words are destructive and will cause us harm.

As you begin your day, always to so by meditation on God: blessing God, worshipping God, praising His Name! Using the Scriptures to praise the Lord is powerful meditation! This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Say it, sing it, shout it out! I will bless Your Name at all times today Lord! Don’t say it once, keep saying these things out loud. Bless the Lord oh my soul. Talk to your soul and tell it that it will be blessing the Lord today. You are connecting your mind, will and emotions to Jesus, the Word, and you will continue in Him (the Word) throughout your day by saying out loud to yourself and thinking His thoughts. As you continue and meditate on Jesus the Word, you become one with Him. You become alive, joyful, peaceful, and happy. Tape up the verses on your bathroom mirror, put them on your kitchen or living room table. This makes it easy to meditate on Life.

Verse for meditation

I will rejoice and put my trust in You; let me ever shout for joy, because You defend me; let me also love Your name and be joyful in You.
