Confession and Meditation

Confession

CONFESSION OF FAITH IN GOD’S WORD

Confession is simply saying or stating that which we know or think to be true. It is a verbal expression of who we are or what we believe. No one would question what sound a cow makes, or that of a cat or dog. What sound does the Bible tell us a Christian makes?

The righteousness by faith speaks the Word of God. The Word is near them in their mouths and in their heartsConfessing Jesus, who is the Word, over every area of our life should be the normal way of living as a Christian. The Word of God is what fills our mouth and provides for our life, so that we don’t confess (fill our mouths) fear, worry, anger, depression, despair, bitterness, defeat, etc. We are to experience the abundant life Jesus paid for us to have through our confession of faith in Jesus the Word (Rom. 10:6a, 8-9).

Caleb and Joshua were the only two people with the Word of God in their mouth and in their heart, the only two who were richly blessed through their confession of God’s promised Words and they entered the Promised Land. Only two people out of two million!!! It’s not common for Christians to walk by faith and confess God’s Word! Even ten out of twelve “leaders” chose evil words over God’s powerful Word and missed the blessings of God on their life! The majority spoke an evil report and the rest listened to the evil report. How many times have we too heard an evil report from our doctor, friend, child, or boss and listened and repeated it, also believing those evil words over God’s Word? And how many times have we too spoken an evil report rather than speaking and confessing God’s promises. It’s no wonder that the body of Christ is feeling hopeless, captive, and sick.

We are called as Christians to speak our faith in God’s Word and stand firm on His Word over every area of our life, not what we see or hear. Psalm 1 says if I delight in the Word my life prospers in every way! God has paid a tremendous price through the precious blood of Jesus for our freedom, healing, and deliverance! God has (already done-has) through Jesus supplied for all our needs and now He wants us to have what is ours through the confession of our faith in Jesus the Word. When we doubt and speak an evil report we miss out and lose out on the blessings God has for us! When we believe and hold fast to our confession of faith in the Word of God without wavering we receive the rich blessings! God promises us that through His precious promises in His Word we have the divine power for everything we need for life and godliness! (2Pet. 1:3-4)

Caleb and Joshua were standing on the Word of God. They believed God’s Word. They SAW THEMSELVES as more than conquerors in God. They were ready to conquer the land (as God had promised).

The other 10 leaders were afraid, convincing the Israelites to be afraid and speaking out a bad report, saying that they should return to Egypt or die in the wilderness. They SAW THEMSELVES as grasshoppers.

We talk how we see ourselves…as children of God or as worthless and helpless.

Two men believed God’s promises and CONFESSED them regardless of the circumstances – regardless of the facts – regardless of what they saw when they visited the land – THEY BELIEVED GOD AND HIS WORD. God said He would give them the Promised Land. They believed what God had said and put Him right in the center of the challenge they faced.

What has God said He would give you personally for your children, for your health, for your marriage, for your finances, etc.? Which confession is in your mouth? God’s good pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2) or a bad report? The only way we conquer our struggles in our marriage, finances, children, health, etc. is putting our mouth (faith) to work confessing the Word. (Isa. 55:8-9)

The remaining 10 men and the Israelites did not believe God. In fact, they TOOK GOD COMPLETELY OUT OF THE SITUATION THROUGH THE WORDS THEY SPOKE. That’s why it’s called a “bad report”. Instead of believing God’s Word they believed what they saw and what they heard and what they felt. They reasoned it out in their own mind. We are called not to lean on reasoning, our own understanding, but rather acknowledge God. (Prov. 3:5-6) When we take the Word and put it in our mouth we are putting God right in the middle of the situation. Jesus is the Word! When we put bad reports in our mouth we put the devil right in the middle of the situation. Whoever gets your tongue gets your life.

CONCLUSION:

  • Caleb and Joshua displayed a POSITIVE OUTLOOK BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED GOD’S WORD – it didn’t matter what the situation looked like, as God promised them the land.
  • God’s Word is extremely positive and full of promises for US personally to escape the corruption in this world. 2Pet. 1:3-4
  • Joshua and Caleb were living proof that everyone rises and falls on their confession. They held fast to their confession of faith in God’s Word.
  • Our confession doesn’t just effect us but….here the entire nation was led astray, millions of people by their confession. Words have power!
  • With their words these 10 spies CANCELED GOD’S PLAN for many and POSTPONED GOD’S PLAN for the rest.
  • 10 spies allowed their circumstances and their perception as grasshoppers in a land of giants, to form their reality.
  • Perception is firmly rooted in your senses and the enemy knows this. 10 spies based their report on the 5 senses. That’s how the devil operates.
  • Satan’s goal is to compel us to make decisions out of our soul, from our thoughts, emotions, and senses. God’s way is holding fast to our confession of faith.

It’s important that we exercise faith. It’s like exercising your body – your body becomes stronger as you exercise, and your faith becomes stronger the more you exercise it. SPEAK THE WORD OF GOD DAILY.

Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. The Whole Health Club teaches you to use the Word as your source of life, which it is!

Meditation

MEDITATING ON GOD’S WORD

Meditation is keeping your mind working on one thing until it is absorbed, understood and received, until that Word becomes part of you. Proverbs 23:7 says, “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he”.

As an example: When we eat food, if we eat so fast that we are not chewing and liquefying it, we’re really not absorbing the nutrients from that food. Absorption involves chewing to a point of liquid. Increased Absorption allows us to receive all the nutrients of that food. That‘s what mediation is, its absorbing the benefits of that Word. Meditation gets words grounded and rooted inside of us. We receive Revelation by meditating. We become established through words. Being absorbed in thought is figuratively chewing the cud. This is the natural process whereby some animals chew and chew and chew their food, then swallow, regurgitate, and chew some more. By these means, they obtain the maximum nourishment from what they eat, digesting it thoroughly.

Animals in the Old Testament were considered clean and suitable for food if they split the hoof and chewed the cud (Lev.11:3). We could say that a person who “chews the cud” (chewing on the Word) will be made clean and fruitful by the Word of God (John 15:3,7); just as Christ’s glorious church is cleansed by the washing of the water of the Word (Eph 5:26).

“I am the bread of life.” (John 6:48)

“Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” (John 6:57-58)

MEDITATING ON GOD’S WORD MAKES US PROSPER IN EVERYTHING WE DO

I am blessed and full of abundant life when I choose not to receive wrong counsel or participate in negative words by delighting my thoughts and attention to God’s Word. Meditating day and night on every Word that comes from God’s mouth I receive perfect counsel from the Wonderful Counselor, perfect peace from the Prince of Peace, perfect wisdom, and the perfect love that casts away all fear to handle every situation that comes my way. I am able to see beyond the natural circumstances into the supernatural. This keeps me secure and safe from the enemy of my soul, allowing me to prosper in everything I do because I’m delighting myself in Jesus the Word. Because I think and dwell on God’s thoughts I am going God’s way. And because of the power of those Words of God at work in me, they are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that I ask, think or could even imagine.

Ps. 1 Isa. 26:3 Isa. 9:6 Prov. 4:5-13 1John 4:18 Eph. 3:20

Whoever uses their mind for God’s thoughts will be used by God, and God will tell them great and mighty things they do not know. Delighting in the Word of God is delighting ourselves in Jesus (He is the Word. John 1:1,14; John 14:6). The Word delight means to take pleasure, find satisfaction, experience thrill and enjoyment; to be excited.

MEDITATING ON GOD’S WORD BRINGS THE GREATEST OF ALL REWARDS: CHRIST HIMSELF INDWELLING US RICHLY. (Col 3:16)

Proverbs 4:22-24 says that a person who is intent on paying close attention to the Word of God brings health to their whole body.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you’ll be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Rom.12:1-2)

When we begin meditating on the Word we’re going to receive our transformed life and renewed mind. We’re going to live out our purpose and be who we really are supposed to be. We’re going to see ourselves become new! Meditating on the Word exchanges words of death for those of life!

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (Josh 1:8)

By meditating on the Word we will receive blessings (Deut. 28:1-14), a fruitful life, (Ps. 1), God’s good, pleasing and perfect plan for our life (Rom. 12:1-2), success, prosperity, strength, courage (Josh. 1:8-9), and freedom (John 8:31-32). Also, we’ll be healed and delivered from all destruction (Ps 107:20). Psalm 91 assures protection in the very first line, to the one who dwells (meditates, dwelling and speaking) in the secret place of the Most High. That’s the secret. If we’re not dwelling/meditating and speaking/confessing what God says then we’re opening ourselves up to words of fear, doubt, offense, anger, condemnation, and much more! Those words are destructive and will cause us harm.

As you begin your day, always do so by meditation on God: blessing God, worshipping God, praising His Name! Using the Scriptures to praise the Lord is powerful meditation! This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Say it, sing it, shout it out! I will bless Your Name at all times today Lord! Don’t say it once, keep saying these things out loud. Bless the Lord oh my soul. Talk to your soul and tell it that it will be blessing the Lord today. You are connecting your mind, will and emotions to Jesus, the Word, and you will continue in Him (the Word) throughout your day by saying out loud to yourself and thinking His thoughts. As you continue and meditate on Jesus the Word, you become one with Him. You become alive, joyful, peaceful, and happy. Tape up the verses on your bathroom mirror, put them on your kitchen or living room table. This makes it easy to meditate on Life.

Verse for meditation

I will rejoice and put my trust in You; let me ever shout for joy, because You defend me; let me also love Your name and be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround me as with a shield. (Ps 5:11-12)

Each of us meditates all day long. Meditating is normal and natural. Meditate on the Word of God day and night instead of on hurt words, angry words, fearful words, guilty words, negative words, condemning words, and then the living water of the Word will make us prosperous and successful in everything we do! (Ps. 1 & Josh. 1:8)

Don’t be led into some destructive and hurtful place by just letting your mind wander wherever it wants to go. Let’s get our words under the control of the Holy Spirit; that will make our paths straight, lead us on paths of righteousness for His Names sake, and restore our souls. (Ps. 23)
