CONFESSION OF FAITH IN GOD’S WORD

Confession is simply saying or stating that which we know or think to be true. It is a verbal expression of who we are or what we believe. No one would question what sound a cow makes, or that of a cat or dog. What sound does the Bible tell us a Christian makes?

The righteousness by faith speaks the Word of God. The Word is near them in their mouths and in their hearts. Confessing Jesus, who is the Word, over every area of our life should be the normal way of living as a Christian. The Word of God is what fills our mouth and provides for our life, not confessing (filling our mouth) fear, worry, anger, depression, despair, bitterness, defeat, etc. We are to experience the abundant life Jesus paid for us to have through our confession of faith in Jesus the Word (Rom. 10:6a, 8-9).

Caleb and Joshua were the only two people with the Word of God in their mouth and in their heart, the only two who were richly blessed through their confession of God’s promised Words and they entered the Promised Land. Only two people out of two million!!! It’s not common for Christians to walk by faith and confess God’s Word! Even ten out of twelve “leaders” chose evil words over God’s powerful Word and missed the blessings of God on their life! The majority spoke an evil report and the rest listened to the evil report. How many times have we too heard an evil report from our doctor, friend, child, or boss and listened and repeated it, also believing those evil words over God’s Word? And how many times have we too spoken an evil report rather than speaking and confessing God’s promises. It’s no wonder that the body of Christ is feeling hopeless, captive, and sick.

We are called as Christians to speak our faith in God’s Word and stand firm on His Word over every area of our life, not what we see or hear. Psalm 1 says if I delight in the Word my life prospers in every way! God has paid a tremendous price through the precious blood of Jesus for our freedom, healing, and deliverance! God has (already done-has) through Jesus supplied for all our needs and now He wants us to have what is ours through the confession of our faith in Jesus the Word. When we doubt and speak an evil report we miss out and lose out on the blessings God has for us! When we believe and hold fast to our confession of faith in the Word of God without wavering we receive the rich blessings! God promises us that through His precious promises in His Word we have the divine power for everything we need for life and godliness! (2Pet. 1:3-4)

Caleb and Joshua were standing on the Word of God. They believed God’s Word. They SAW THEMSELVES as more than conquerors in God. They were ready to conquer the land (as God had promised them the land),

The other 10 leaders were afraid, convincing the Israelites to be afraid and speaking out a bad report, saying that they should return to Egypt or die in the wilderness. They SAW THEMSELVES as grasshoppers.

We talk how we see ourselves…as children of God or as worthless and helpless.

Two men believed God’s promises and CONFESSED them regardless of the circumstances – regardless of the facts – regardless of what they saw when they visited the land – THEY BELIEVED GOD AND HIS WORD. God said He would give them the Promised Land. They believed what God had said and put Him right in the center of the challenge they faced.

What has God said He would give you personally for your children, for your health, for your marriage, for your finances, etc.? Which confession is in your mouth? God’s good pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2) or a bad report? The only way we conquer our struggles in our marriage, finances, children, health, etc. is putting our mouth (faith) to work confessing the Word. (Isa. 55:8-9)

The remaining 10 men and the Israelites did not believe God. In fact, they TOOK GOD COMPLETELY OUT OF THE SITUATION. That’s why it’s called a “bad report”. Instead of believing God’s Word they believed what they saw and what they heard and what they felt. They reasoned it out in their own mind. We are called not to lean on reasoning, our own understanding, but rather acknowledge God. (Prov. 3:5-6) When we take the Word and put it in our mouth we are putting God right in the middle of the situation. Jesus is the Word! When we put bad reports in our mouth we put the devil right in the middle of the situation. Whoever gets your tongue gets your life.

CONCLUSION:

  • Caleb and Joshua displayed a POSITIVE OUTLOOK BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED GOD’S WORD – it didn’t matter what the situation looked like, as God promised them the land.
  • God’s Word is extremely positive and full of promises for US personally to escape the corruption in this world. 2Pet. 1:3-4
  • Joshua and Caleb were living proof that everyone rises and falls on your confession. They held fast to their confession of faith in God’s Word.
  • Our confession doesn’t just effect us but….here the entire nation was led astray, millions of people by their confession. Words have power!
  • With their words these 10 spies CANCELED GOD’S PLAN for many and POSTPONED GOD’S PLAN for the rest.
  • 10 spies allowed their circumstances and their perception as grasshoppers in a land of giants, to form their reality.
  • Perception is firmly rooted in your senses and the enemy knows this. 10 spies based their report on the 5 senses. That’s how the devil operates.
  • Satan’s goal is to compel us to make decisions out of our soul, from our thoughts, emotions, and senses. God’s way is holding fast to our confession of faith.

It’s important that we exercise faith. It’s like exercising your body – your body becomes stronger as you exercise, and your faith becomes stronger the more you exercise it. SPEAK THE WORD OF GOD DAILY.

Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. The Whole Health Club teaches you to use the Word as your source of life, which it is!
