Prayer For Marital Health

Both Pray:  Father, we praise You for giving us each other.  Flood our hearts with thankfulness for one another and guide us daily to share things we are thankful for, so we can be filled with greater love one for another.  I am so thankful for _________________. (about your spouse)

He Prays:  Lord, make our marriage blessed and highly favored in all ways.  Teach us to be joyful always, to give thanks in all of our circumstances and pray continually for and with one another for our marriage to make us and keep us healthy and free! Remind us that this is Your will for us.  Lord, purge us completely from all attitudes that are self-seeking, rude, proud, boastful, or jealous, and fill our hearts with Your loving, forgiving, kind, and humble Spirit. Make us affectionate towards one another and compel us to put each other’s needs before our own.

She Prays:  Lord, guide us in trusting each other and protecting the sanctity of our marriage. God, You joined us together as one, never let us be separated.  Teach us to be led by the Spirit and to make every effort to establish peace and harmony in our home.  Keep reminding us that above all things to have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins, and that our real battle is not against each other but the devil.

He Prays:  Lord, show us Your way of communicating, speaking the truth in love to one another daily so we grow to become in every respect mature in Christ.  Keep us from letting any corrupt communication proceed out of our mouths, but only that which imparts grace so we will build each other up.  Make our mouths wise to bring about healing, and may all of our conversations be full of grace, seasoned with salt.

She Prays:  Lord, prevent us from dwelling on the past.  Make it easy for us to forget what is behind us and to look forward to what lies ahead for us, pressing on toward the goal of the prize of the upward call in Christ Jesus for our marriage.  Lord, do a new thing in us!  Give us eyes to see, a mind and heart to perceive what You have prepared for us. Thank You, Lord, for using all things for our good.

He Prays:  Lord, fill our hearts completely with Your peace and love.  Keep us rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks in everything so that Your peace will sanctify us: body, soul, and spirit.  Make us of one accord and of one mind, the mind of Christ.  Help us to walk in the Spirit daily and be filled with the Spirit by speaking Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts towards You, Lord. We know, Lord, that every good and perfect gift for our marriage comes by giving thanks always and staying in Your presence.

She Prays:  Lord, help me to see that submitting myself to my husband is good, it’s  submitting myself to You, Lord.  Guide me to always honor, respect, love, adore and enjoy him daily.  He is a precious gift to me and I give thanks to You for blessing me with his love!

He Prays:  Lord, help me to love my wife as Christ loves His bride, giving myself for her, and to adore, cherish, honor, love and respect her and live with her in a considerate and understanding way.  Let my eyes be only for her.  Let her breasts fill me at all times with delight and may I always be intoxicated in her love.

She Prays:  Since we now belong to one another, cause us to always fulfill our marital duty to each other.  Remind us that we do not have authority over our own bodies but that we must yield them to each other.  Do not let us deprive each other sexually so that Satan will not tempt us because of our lack of self-control.

He Prays:  Lord, grow us daily in grace, fixing our eyes on Jesus, that He may perfect our faith.  Teach us how to live by faith and not by sight, and not in the flesh but in the Spirit. Keep us paying attention to Your Word and listening closely to what You say, Lord, getting it in our hearts that we might not sin against You, and receiving life and health to our whole bodies.

She Prays:  I pray, Lord, that You will fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, and you will cause us to walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing to You, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Keep us always meditating on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, of a good report,—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—keep us thinking about such things.
